With its secluded location on the western side of Bathurst Island, Tiwi Island Retreat is perfectly placed to enjoy nearby fishing adventures and Tiwi Islands cultural activities. The retreat is just a 15-minute boat ride from Port Hurd and approximately a one-hour drive from Bathurst Island Airport (BRT), with return flights from Darwin International Airport (DRW) available on select days of the week. Car and boat transfers are included in your package, please plan accordingly.

  • Tiwi Island visitor and fishing permits are included in all hotel packages. Please contact hotel directly for further information.
  • Guests in Village Rooms will use communal unisex shower and toilet facilities, featuring two toilets and two showers.
  • Return transfers from Darwin to Port Hurd (Tiwi Islands) are not included in your package and must be booked separately. Contact info@tiwiislandretreat.com.au for more details.
  • This is a seasonal hotel, closed each year during December - March.

The staff are amazing, shoutout to Kate and Dwayne for outstanding work. Amazing food prepared by the chef Locki. Thank you to Shiela and Carly for your hospitality. The boat crew Oscar and Doggy where fantastic with there fishing knowledge. Highly recommend for serenity and of course catch a fish or two.

The chef produces amazing food and staff cater for everything. Looking for a close to home holiday? This is the place. They offer fishing, crabbing and croc watching.

An amazing stay. We were a very large family group from Darwin and the staff made it really easy for us and all the little kids we had in tow. We appreciated the separate early dinner supplied to the kids too! The food was amazing and a real highlight of our stay. Relaxing place and one of a kind. My only suggestion for improvement would be for the resort to take advantage of being on the Tiwis and incorporate local culture and employment.

This place is amazing and would definitely come back. Staff are really helpful and friendly and overall amazing people. the food was excellent and so tasty big thanks to the chef. The island itself is beautiful, amazing sunsets & sunrises and connecting with nature. The rooms are amazing and very comfortable and clean. My favourite part of the trip was fishing, the staff really know their stuff and are really patient and willing to help you catch the biggest fish you can. This was an overall great experience and most definitely my favourite holiday. Thank you Tiwi islands for the great memories.
