Quaint, quiet lodging. Great location within walking distance. No staff on site. No service on site (at least during our stay- middle of the week). Continental breakfast is at a nearby sister property. Coffee, tea and lots of snacks and fruit are in the sitting room at this location. Beautiful areas to sit outside. Peaceful. There are 3 floors and no elevator so choose your room wisely. Rooms are nice- very comfortable beds. Bathroom was adequate. Limited outlets and counters space. Staff at the sister location were very helpful and friendly.

Best thing about this place is the location, which is dead center in Lenox. But it needs a lot of work, design-wise and just in terms of accommodations and amenities. Next time will probably just stay at a more standard commercial hotel. We stayed at the Whitlock which is sort of ramshackle and worn down — rather than acquiring a “collection” of three properties I think the ownership should have sunk their money into one and gutted it to bring it up to modern standards. As is, the rooms are threadbare and feel sort of flop-house-adjacent: no closets, no surfaces or drawers in the bathroom, the soap and lotion dispensers were stained with rust from the metal holders they were in, loud vibrating air conditioning/heating unit, the door to our room didn’t fully close, no soundproofing so you can hear everything happening through the thin walls and floors, etc. The aesthetic sensibility of the place is, “antique store that somehow stays in business despite selling only one item a month.” They nominally offer a free continental breakfast which, you know, whatever, I don’t stay places to the breakfast, but they only offer it from 7-9 AM. Who the hell is getting up that early for a continental breakfast when they’re on vacation? (And we could smell people making toast and coffee in our room). Push it to 10 AM at least, gang. If you’re desperate to stay right in downtown Lenox, this place is fine. If you want a nice hotel experience, I’d look further afield to the Porches in North Adams or Elements in “north” Lenox.

The heat in our room didn't work. The first night they said they hadn't turned the heat back on when the weather changed. Sent me to a hall thermometer. The halls were warm but not our room. The second day they said that the heat in our room was the mini split and they would send someone to be sure it was set correctly. They said it was checked while we were out for the day but it was so cold we wore sweats and socks to bed. They ultimately offered to move us to another of their hotels but it was late and we were unpacked and only there for another night The bar area was closed. They offered a coffee station but no cream. No where to sit outside of the room other than a cold porch. The room was neat but not clean (cobwebs in bathroom...hearing vent cover missing...spiders in shower... Hairballs behind the toilet) Extremely disappointed. It was our 38th wedding anniversary thankfully after all these years we had fun in spite of not being happy with our accommodations.
