This place was perfect in every way. First of all, so charming! I didnt want to stay in a chain hotel in a city as historic as Edinburgh and this place definitely fit the vibe I was looking for. It's a historic house kept very true to the original style. The dining area is adorable. We stayed in 108 and loved it. Large armoire with mini fridge inside, a copper soaking tub and large four-poster bed with mirrored canopy. We knocked our knees and heads on various parts of the bed frame so be careful. The mirrors above the bed were... interesting. Haha We thought a historic building would have noise issues but we heard nothing. The location was absolutely perfect. Busses literally right out front of the hotel that take you anywhere. The train station is 8 minutes away for day trips to Glasgow or Stirling castle, etc. The staff are lovely, so accommodating and helpful. Didn't want to leave!!

We stayed here during August for the Oasis concerts and the Fringe Festival and found it to be a good location for both as it was walking distance to the city centre and Murrayfield Stadium. It was also quick and easy to get an Uber to city centre restaurants and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. Our room was at the back next to the conservatory and it was nice and quiet. The room was small but comfortable, there was no wardrobe but plenty of drawer space and some coat pegs on the wall. Being someone who likes to unpack as soon as I arrive and hang all my clothes up, I did struggle for space and had to leave some things in my case but it didn't spoil the stay as it was only for a few days. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a good range of options for breakfast, the vegetarian options were good too. The only thing I would mention is that there wasn't a fridge in our room so although the bottles of water were replenished daily, and there is a nearby shop where we bought extra bottles of water and soft drinks, we were not able to keep them cool. The hotel has it's own car park which is handy, the public transport options are good but I didn't notice much public car parking in the area, so it was good that we could just leave the car and walk or take a taxi to wherever we needed to go. It was super busy and when the Oasis shows were on there was a lot of rubbish/smashed glass on the car park in the evening but by morning it had been cleaned up. Overall it was a good stay and if we were in the area again we would come back :)

The hotel is in a lovely building, but be prepared to carry your luggage up a narrow staircase. Even the hotel entrance has stairs. There are no lifts and no ramps of any sort. Our room was adorable but tiny. There was no closet (just some hooks on the wall at the entrance), which is unpleasantly messy. The bathroom was also very small, with a spacious shower and toilet crammed into a space so small that a tall person would find uncomfortable. The sink was placed in the bedroom itself with no counter space at all. For a single, short, and fit individual with no luggage, the room would be great. It was charming but not comfortable for us, two tall individuals with significant luggage for our 2 weeks of travel around Scotland! The staff were very nice. Maya, the receptionist, offered to help carry our luggage up the two floors to our room. She was very sweet. The location is very quiet with a most convenient bus stop in front of the hotel. The restaurant was great too! I'm sure they must have bigger rooms.... Bottom line: check the details of what you're booking!
