We absolutely loved our stay at the Sir Adam. The location is perfect with the 24/7 ferry right across from the hotel. The elevators are so fun with a disco ball and a karaoke setup. Rooms are small but have all the essentials and reflect the theme of the hotel. Definitely a must visit.

We seriously lucked out by booking the SiR Adam! As we disembarked our Viking River cruise in Amsterdam we gazed across the River at SiR Adam. "Wow, we're close! But how do we get there from here?" Uber quoted 24 minutes! This is the beauty of Amsterdam and the SiR Adam. We actually just walked a few hundred yards to the main Amsterdam Rail station, boarded a free Ferry and were in our rooms in 20 minutes! This location continued to be the highlight of our planning. Just across from "everything" and ferries running 24 hours and every 5-10 minutes for 20 of them, this location is amazing. The hotel is very vibrant, rock -n- roll and cool. The staff was great including the most comprehensive review of a city map we've every had! We shared complimentary check in cocktails and made way to a very safe, secure and innovative elevator system. Each elevator is themed as are the rooms. Our view from the room and from the property overall was amazing. Surrounding SirAdam is a Tower experience, the Holland experience, a great breakfast spot, a stocked convenience store, a museum/event center and a few great places to eat without compromises including the hotel restaurant "The Butcher". At dusk we sat out front on the riverside walkway to watch people, boats and the sunset. On departure, again, we walked out the door to the ferry and airport express in minutes. No doubt that we will stay here again if every fortunate enough to revisit Amsterdam.

We stayed 4 nights at the Sir Adam - and I'd like to focus on many of the positives. We had a corner room, and it was worth it - the view of Amsterdam and the channel gave us a beautiful view for the extent of our stay. The room was small but the aesthetic was actually fantastic if you are the artistic type. If you're not into industrialism, retro music or artistic design - rent at a 'normal' hotel instead. The elevator literally had a lighted disco dance floor and running karaoke [with mics!] 24/7. The room had a working record player and a library of vinyl to choose from. My creative mind was working overtime the whole trip. On to some of the negatives. House cleaning was less than stellar on attention to detail. We had some issues that needed to be brought to their attention. However, the front desk was receptive to critical feedback. There were a few maintenance issues which I reported to the front desk. Overall, my stay was great - but there's definitely some work that can be done to bring it up to a 5-star stay. They definitely play to their base of who would stay there, though.

First, the positive: The staff was extremely courteous and helpful in every respect. Just nice, nice people. Unfortunately, that is it for positives. This hotel is somehow loosely affiliated with Marriott and that is why I chose it using Marriott Bonvoy points. But, that is where any connection with a typical Marriott property ends. Smallest room I have ever stayed in. I paid 69 Euro for an upgrade, but all that got us was a corner room with more windows. Air conditioning was not capable of cooling the room, so the staff sent up an electric fan. This may be hard to believe, but the shower had an exterior wall made of clear glass which exposed the occupant to the outside world. There was an opaque panel which covered the occupant from knees to chest, but on the higher floors where we were, the angle of view from the street below left very little to the imagination. But, at least you could look down on the street while sitting on the toilet? The bed had a comfortable mattress, but was only about 14 inches from the floor, so it was difficult for older people to get in and out of. There is no way for cabs to pull up to the front of the hotel, so they must park on the street which is at least 50 yards from the hotel entrance. Combine this with the fact that there are no bellmen (porters) and you are in for quite a struggle if you have hardly any luggage. We were staying one night, then leaving on a 2 week cruise so we had a lot of luggage and getting it to and from the hotel, across that 50 yards of cobblestone, was not a pleasant experience. All in all, this hotel might be perfect as a youth hostel and maybe that is all it is intended to be. If you are not too modest, have only a back pack for luggage, you will enjoy the youthful atmosphere
