⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had such a great stay at Rydges Canberra! The hotel has a really relaxed, welcoming vibe from the moment you walk in, and the team there make you feel right at home. Rooms are comfy, spacious, and perfect for either work or a weekend away. And yes… the breakfast is definitely a highlight (hello crispy bacon and strong coffee 👌), but the whole experience is what makes it. The bar and restaurant have a great atmosphere, and the location makes it super easy to get around Canberra. Would 100% stay again — it’s the kind of hotel that makes travel feel easy and enjoyable.

Not sure I’d stay again, unfortunately. PROS: - great buffet breakfast - comfortable king bed - Great shower pressure - lovely indoor vibes in the restaurant/bar area CONS: - parking garage had tiny space and was a difficult layout - curtains didn’t close all the way in our room, so light came through from the outdoor courtyard overnight - only one side of the bed had power sockets for phone charging - the sofa bed in our room wasn’t made up and we called to have it made up, then after 4 hours waiting, we ended up going to reception having to ask for the sheets etc - only 2 towels in the room for a 4 person stay, again had to go to reception for the towels to be brought to us - seats and tables in the dining areas were pretty dirty. Old stains of milk (?) on the chairs and the tables had dirt all over the bottoms - upon check in, the hallway leading to our room had garbage bags littered throughout - no towels in the pool area or rooms. Not the usual experience from the Rydges.

I recently stayed at this hotel, which is marketed as one of the richer or more premium 4-star options in the area. To be fair, the entrance and downstairs common areas do make a great first impression — the lobby is beautiful, and the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Their professionalism and friendliness gave me high hopes for the rest of the stay. However, once I stepped into the room, the experience took a noticeable downturn. The accommodation itself felt very outdated — from the worn furniture to the overall layout, it was clear that the rooms haven’t been refreshed in quite some time. There’s a sense that the space isn’t being utilised to its full potential, which is frustrating given the price point. It’s the kind of room that might have been impressive two decades ago, but now feels tired and neglected. For what the hotel is charging, I expected a much higher standard in the rooms — modern touches, better lighting, even just a feeling of comfort and freshness. Instead, the contrast between the elegant front-of-house areas and the dated rooms is so stark that it almost feels like two different hotels. It’s not the worst place I’ve stayed, and again, I can’t fault the staff — they’re doing a wonderful job with what they have. But for a hotel positioning itself at the higher end of the market, there’s a serious need for an upgrade upstairs. Until then, I’d consider exploring other options in the same price range.

The hotel itself looks quite nice. Inside the rooms are not clean. The staff excluding an Indian lady are nice and friendly - they were more welcoming then that lady. There was hair between the sink and mirror when we arrived, linen was dirty as was the floor near the tv. I think if they improve on cleanliness it would be different. The pool was also not heated which was a shame as one would expect that from an indoor pool as well as the cold weather. The location is great, not far from the foreshore. Parking at $25 was a bit rich though.
