Thank you for this amazing experience to the Romantik Schweizerhof team. Service and hospitality as you would expect from a 5* hotel. Restaurant is expensive but worth it. View is spectacular.

Would not recommend - A very bad experience We booked Apartment 601 in Chalet Rotstock (a large 3-bedroom apartment with a large terrace) paying a hefty CHF 2475 per night from August 18–22, 2025 - photos and layout image of the apartment attached. This was supposed to be the highlight of our Switzerland trip, but the experience turned into a series of disappointments and frustrations. 1. Check-in Disaster: Instead of the 3-bedroom apartment we had reserved, we were checked into a 2-bedroom apartment (Room 252) and told it was “the same.” Only after protesting for over an hour were we moved to a much smaller 3-bedroom apartment (703), while the apartment we had paid for (601) was given away due to a “reservation error.” Another hour was wasted shifting our luggage. Our entire first afternoon was ruined. We were promised 601 from the following day. 2. Dinner Debacle: That evening, the manager kindly booked us a Swiss restaurant in Wangen and specifically advised us to drive there after visiting Lauterbrunnen. We kept searching for the restaurant from Lauterbrunnen. When we called the restaurant, to our shock, we were informed that Wangen was only accessible by a cable train — a small detail he conveniently forgot to mention. By the time we discovered this, the restaurant had closed, and we ended up returning hungry and settling for junk food. When we got back and told him, his casual response was, “Oh, sorry, I didn’t know that.”This, from the very same person (Mr Victor, I think)who had recommended the place. Absolutely unbelievable. 3. Breakfast Mess: The next morning, we arrived for breakfast at 10:05, only to be told it closed at 10:00. Our voucher clearly stated10:30, but the staff rudely brushed us off, saying we should “complain to the front desk” if we wanted the website updated. We were grudgingly offered meagre leftovers. Closing breakfast at 10:00 in a resort hotel is absurd. 4. Two Days Wasted: After all this, we had to wait until 16:35 the next day to finally be given the apartment we had booked (601). Two full days of our holiday were wasted packing, repacking and shifting, because of their mismanagement. 5. Poor Compensation: For all the stress, wasted time, and ruined holiday experiences, the hotel offered a laughable 500 CHF in credit — to be used only within the hotel. An insult, not compensation. A pathetic attempt at covering up their blunders. This compensation was for keeping us in apartment 701 which was half the size of apartment 601 for which we paid a tariff of 2475CHF per night 6. Lack of Basic Amenities: The hotel does not provide an iron or ironing board in the room, not even on request — highly unusual for a property of this standard. Even budget hotels manage this. To top it off, the jacuzzi is chargeable, not included with the spa. Extra charge. Because apparently, in their world, spa access doesn’t include, well… the spa. 7. No Accountability: At checkout, nobody asked us for feedback. When we insisted on leaving our comments, they were simply ignored — no acknowledgment or follow-up, and certainly no action taken even weeks after our written complaint. It’s clear the management does not care about guest experience. Overall, this was a deeply frustrating stay that spoiled what should have been a wonderful holiday in Grindelwald. We had high expectations given the price and reputation, but Schwarzerhof Romantik Hotel failed miserably in service, honesty, and hospitality. In short: this is not a “romantik” hotel, it’s a disaster. Overpriced, poorly managed, and staffed by people who don’t value their guests’ time, money, or experience. Our holiday was ruined, and the memory of Grindelwald is now tainted by this place.
