Petit Ermitage is a haven of European eccentricity, with suites that celebrate vintage styling and splashes of Parisian, Spanish and Moroccan-inspired design. That boutique feel continues in the common areas, with walls lined with original art from the owner’s eclectic collection – think Miro, de Kooning and Dali. However, it’s at the rooftop pool where the fun truly begins: sun yourself on one of the striped daybeds while admiring views of the Hills or settle in for a swim – it’s heated and saltwater, so it’s comfortable no matter the time of year. A nearby fire deck comes to life at sundown, best admired with a cocktail in hand from Butterfly Bar. When hunger strikes, turn to the expansive alfresco restaurant, which also doubles as a hummingbird and butterfly sanctuary.

Petit Ermitage is tucked in between Santa Monica Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard on an otherwise-unassuming residential street in West Hollywood. The neighbourhood is full of fantastic restaurants and bars, and it’s an easy 15-minute drive to the boutiques of Beverly Hills and thrills of Universal Studios. The beaches of Santa Monica are approx. half an hour away by car, dependent on traffic, as is Los Angeles Airport (LAX). Transfers are not included, please plan accordingly.

Petit Ermitage is less a hotel and more a whimsical, bohemian sanctuary tucked away in West Hollywood. From the moment you enter, you're transported to a different world, filled with curated art, antique furnishings, and a palpable sense of magic. It successfully cultivates an atmosphere of a private, exclusive club for creatives and romantics. The crown jewel is undoubtedly the rooftop, a stunning private space with a heated saltwater pool, lush gardens, and one of the most enchanting dining ambiances in the city. It’s an unforgettable escape for those seeking character and soul over corporate polish.

Coolest spot in town. They show up to create magic in every corner. Feels like they really care about creating a special experience for guests. Also the Grand Belles are the best beds EVER. Strongly recommend

A Love Letter to Petit Ermitage, West Hollywood’s Secret Garden of Dreams: (Stayed August 14-15, 2025) First Impressions: Bohemian Sleight of Hand: Walking into Petit Ermitage feels like stumbling into a lucid dream. Tucked away on Cynthia Street, the unassuming exterior gives nothing away—but step inside, and you’re swallowed whole by a maximalist wonderland. Think Dalí meets "A Midsummer Night’s Dream": Hand-stenciled floors, gilded fireplaces, and walls dripping with original Miro and de Kooning pieces . The vibe?: If your coolest collector friend turned their penthouse into a members-only den. No sterile lobby here—just a labyrinth of velvet drapes, Persian rugs you’ll want to steal (but can’t, sadly), and a staff that greets you like family .

After an uncomfortable and disappointing experience at this hotel, the worker at the front desk told me that a night would be comped and that I should reach out to management. After reaching out I have still not heard anything back, so instead I will write this review. The hotel provides large speakers in each room, and on my first night there, the neighboring room decided to blast heavy bass at 1 am while partying, waking me up. After 30 minutes of thumping bass, I had to get up and ask them to turn it down, but by then it was difficult for me to fall back asleep. On top of that, the mattress felt extremely uneven/lumpy and did not make for a comfortable sleep to begin with. When I checked in they told me they had a shortage of keys so I could only get 1, which required anyone sharing your room to have to coordinate access- which is extremely inconvenient. The next day I needed another key and there was only one person at the desk. After waiting in front of him for 5 minutes while he was on the phone, a couple which came in much later than me goes up to the desk and the worker proceeds to help them first, which caused me to wait another 10 minutes. There was no apology for the wait or for helping the other couple out of turn. Being made to feel invisible while waiting for something as simple as a key to your room really soured the entire stay. Only positive of this hotel was the location and rooftop pool... but regardless I can confidently say I'd never stay here again.
