We had a fabulous short stay at the Max brown hotel in the Canal district, we stayed there to celebrate a birthday and in doing so they decorated our room and left some goodies. The room was clean and bed was comfy. Only downside but couldn’t be helped due to being an old building was the very narrow and steep staircase and we noticed the walls were very thin and could hear people next door. Other than that the hotel was fabulous, staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially on arrival when we were offered a welcome drink. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

This was our third stay at Max Brown Canal District Amsterdam, and once again it was wonderful. My partner and I truly love their rooms with canal views—they make it easy to immerse ourselves in the beauty and atmosphere of Amsterdam right by the water. The location is also perfect, with everything within easy reach. During this stay we had a small booking issue, but the staff kindly helped us resolve it quickly. We are very grateful for their support and warm hospitality. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy the charm of Amsterdam’s canals, and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you again!

I've stayed here 4 or 5 times. There are many good things about this hotel, particularly the staff and location (also dog friendly) but rooms really run the gamut. Expect small spaces like most European major cities. This time I had one room with no windows but a ceiling skylight. It would have been OK as I thought it might be quiet. However, there were some late night partiers next door which meant zero sleep. The staff moved me to another room which was helpful. The breakfast could be improved by offering a granola/muesli without chocolate bits and also ripe fruit or fruit salad. The first morning there was no decent bread (just a squishy sliced loaf) but that did appear on another morning (baguettes, rolls, etc.). It seemed pretty inconsistent so I ate breakfast at another place in Westerpark.

This is tough because the best part of our stay was the view, location and front desk staff (Paul, Jasmine & Tamra)! Nice little eating area, lobby and breakfast. Plus a complimentary drink! Rooms were very clean & cutely decorated. However, the not-so-great parts were the ridiculously steep & extremely tiny spiral staircase to our room, the front door to our "annex" not closing properly (making us feel unsafe), noisy location at night, and also extremely small bathroom (& the shower water leaked into the bathroom floor).
