Lotte Arai Resort
Point your ski tips towards Japan and plant your poles at this multi-award-winning ski-in, ski-out winter wonderland, which promises delicious cuisine, apres-ski onsens and some of the deepest powder in the country. Set in Myoko, just a two-hour drive from Niigata Airport or two hours by bullet train from Tokyo, this is a hidden gem blessed with an average snowfall of 15 metres each season, more than the much-frequented Niseko.
This impressive resort is home to a plethora of top facilities, including Japanese and Western dining, a serene onsen for relaxing soaks and lavish indoor and outdoor pools. Beyond the resort, an abundance of natural beauty awaits in Myoko. Embark on a snowshoe adventure through the Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, trace your way along the frozen edges of Imori Pond or sample sake at one of the restaurants nearby.
Lotte Arai Resort enjoys an ideal location in Myoko, Niigata, an area renowned for its high-quality powder snow. Make the most of plentiful pillowy terrain with skiing, snowboarding and other adventure activities by day, then relax in natural hot springs and indulge in gourmet dining when night falls. Lotte Arai Resort is a two-hour drive from Niigata Airport (KIJ) or a two-hour bullet train ride to Joetsumyoko Station from Tokyo. Airport transfers are not included in your package; please plan accordingly.
Guests may access a shuttle bus free of charge (reservation required) between the resort and Joetsumyoko Station (West Entrance).

The Hotel – Luxury resort with everything included for a fun-filled ski escape
Seeing the incredible potential of the slopes in this extraordinary resort, the premier hotel brand Lotte set about creating a ski resort like no other. With luxurious, mountain-view rooms, a gorgeous spa, natural hot-spring onsen, three restaurants offering Japanese and international plates, six bars, lounges and cafes, and exhilarating activities – all coupled with epic skiing and snowboarding on fresh ‘Japow’ – it’s fair to say their vision has been fulfilled.
Make the most of that highly sought-after Japanese powder with skiing and snowboarding, suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. Hone your skills with private lessons or kids’ group tuition at the resort’s ski school, where lessons are run by English-speaking, international instructors — rare for Japan. Home to Myoko’s longest run, Lotte Arai Resort has Japan’s biggest in-bounds off-piste ski area and also offers some above-treeline terrain in wide-open powder bowls (also rare for a Japanese resort), along with some controlled off-piste skiing and snowboarding.
The resort has an impressive 951 metres of vertical descent, or, if you don’t mind a hike, make your way up the ridgeline to Mount Ohgenashi and Mount Kogenashi and reach 1,101 metres of Japan’s finest snow. For a unique adventure, hit the slopes at night – a truly atmospheric experience.
One thing’s for certain: you won’t ever find yourself short of things to do at Lotte Arai Resort. Admire the snowy scenery as you whizz down the 1,501-metre zip line on a tour along one of Asia’s longest lines (additional charges apply), go tubing down the slopes and try your hand at rock climbing and trampolining at the Lotte Arai Playground.
Your handpicked inclusions – Daily breakfast, lift passes, onsen access, a luxurious one-time dinner and more

You’ll also enjoy 30% off resort activities — with fun winter-time activities, it’s a great way to finish a day on the slopes and is bound to keep the kids entertained. It’s easy to relax tired muscles after long days of skiing, with discounted access to the resort’s swimming pool and daily access to the Hoshizora natural hot springs (lightly alkaline waters from 1,750 metres underground contribute to beautiful skin.) Then, as evening sets in, unwind in the cosy surrounds of Cottage Lounge with a welcome beer and dining discount.
