This hotel is amazing, from the ambience of the lobby/reception area, welcome from front desk staff, to the rooms, all superb. Food and service in the lounge has been first class, the main restaurant and bar is spacious and classy. Some of the gym equipment could do with modernising (spin bike?} but really minor point. It's my first time back in Melbourne for 6 years and first stay here, but would jump at the chance to come back.

Amazing hotel staff. Would love to give a big shout to the 2 lads who worked at night was there. It was a kiwi guy (really big dude) and rohan? I cant recall their names now but wow. They basically attended to my shower issues where the tap was not working functionally as supposed to. Even brought in ice to assist with my wife's fever. Forever respectful. And the lovely ladies at the breakfast hall! From remembering our names to room numbers so we dont have to check in at breakfast again and again and even remembering our coffee orders! The staff at intercontinental is spot on and ever ready to assist! Room is a bit dated? But clean nevertheless. Shower issues when you change to the handheld shower as pressure is low, so it keeps reactivating the rainfall shower. But other than that fantastic all around. And yes a member of the chain, they do make you feel special!

The Intercontinental Melbourne is a stunning hotel located in the CDB. We stayed for 3 nights recently. Check in could best be described as clumsy as Reception staff disputed the structure of our booking, nightly 'turn down service' was missing even though I asked housekeeping face to face for this service and we had to request additional towels as they weren't replenished after cleaning. On a positive note the Club Lounge was stunning and the staff warm, welcoming and service impeccable. Although not a hotel issue we were harangued by several taxi drivers who were out the front of the hotel and we had to return to the hotel to seek help from the concierge.

“The Worst Hotel Experience I’ve ever had. This hotel is an absolute joke – Avoid at All Costs” In short, this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. An absolute waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone — do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. The disappointment began even before we arrived. We had sent two emails with specific requests ahead of time, but the hotel never replied. At check-in, the front-desk staff didn’t acknowledge or address any of those messages. The moment we entered the room, we were shocked. Even though this hotel charges premium rates in central Melbourne, the room felt cramped, gloomy, and completely devoid of luxury — more like a cell than a five-star hotel room. It was dirty, with carpets that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The air-conditioning vents were covered in dust and clearly hadn’t been maintained. Towels and amenities weren’t prepared for the number of guests we had notified them about in advance, and we had to ask for basic items ourselves. To make matters worse, the walls were paper-thin, and we could hear voices from the room above well into the night, making it hard to sleep. Every aspect of this stay was disappointing. There is no world in which this should be called a five-star hotel. SHAME ON THIS HOTEL. If you’re considering a stay in central Melbourne, go to the Grand Hyatt or W instead. Don’t be fooled by this fake “five-star” label — you’ll regret it.
