The InterContinental London is a beautiful hotel with excellent service. On this visit, the staff kindly insisted on removing the service charge despite my desire to ensure they were well-compensated, demonstrating their professionalism. Reception, concierge, doorman, and all other staff are very kind and attentive. I received a wonderful two-tier room upgrade to the Mayfair level. The lighting, AC, and interior design throughout the hotel are elegant and well-maintained. Rooms & Facilities I have stayed several times in both the Mayfair level and regular rooms. Both have their advantages: regular rooms are slightly larger, though a bit dated, while Mayfair rooms are smaller, particularly the bathrooms. The bathrooms, though well-fitted with great showers and water pressure, could benefit from a larger screen to prevent water from spilling onto the floor. Overall, rooms are clean, with beautiful carpets, beds, and lovely views. TV casting is available but could be improved to allow full-screen mirroring for streaming non-Western apps and personal videos. Despite smaller bathrooms on the Mayfair level, the property remains excellent value given London pricing. Dining Breakfast at the club level is pleasant, though the regular buffet breakfast can feel rushed and cafeteria-like. A calmer and more enjoyable experience can be had at the Wellington Lounge, where afternoon tea is also served. Overall The InterContinental London remains one of the best options in the city, offering elegant rooms, excellent service from all staff, and great value. Small issues with bathroom sizes and buffet breakfast do little to detract from the overall experience.

Had the most amazing afternoon tea, and free flowing champagne which was a birthday treat for a friend. The delightful Olivia attended to our every need and was such a well spoken, well travelled and extremely informative member of staff. She gave us a thorough run through of the many ‘Royally themed’ picnic inspired afternoon tea delights. It was an absolute pleasure to be in the company of such a delightful young lady. She is an absolute credit to the establishment and they are very lucky to have her. I would definitely recommend afternoon tea at this hotel, it was fantastic.

I’ve stayed at Intercontinental London Park Lane several times over the years, and while the hotel still delivers in many ways, this visit left me with mixed feelings. The hotel has been nicely renovated since my last stay, and its location remains one of the best in London—central, elegant, and easy to access. The entrance staff are consistently helpful and welcoming, and check-in was smooth and fast. However, as a Diamond member, I wasn’t acknowledged, there was no welcome note, and no upgrade. I later learned the hotel was fully booked due to the marathon, which I understand, but even so, I didn’t feel special or recognized for my loyalty. I once described this hotel as my “home away from home.” This time, it didn’t feel that way. The personal warmth and attention that once defined the experience seem to have faded. The suite was clean at first glance, and I appreciated the turndown service, along with the pleasant scent the team leaves after each cleaning. But housekeeping missed some basic details: a dirty towel was left on the floor, tea supplies weren’t replenished, and my shirt remained under the seat for two days—clear signs of a drop in attentiveness. The club lounge remains a highlight—generous with champagne during happy hour and offering a great breakfast selection. Staff were friendly, but lounge timings weren’t explained at check-in and had to be asked about. The gym was excellent—very clean, well-equipped, and actively maintained. Towels on each machine and visible cleaners showed a high level of care in that area. Checkout was smooth, and I still enjoy the hotel and love being in London.
But I hope the Intercontinental Park Lane revisits the attention to detail and warmth that once made it stand out so much more.

Disappointing Stay — Not Worth the Price We stayed for three nights and, unfortunately, found the experience quite disappointing. While the doormen were consistently friendly and welcoming, the reception staff fell short — often curt and unhelpful. One receptionist even snapped, “Do you mind me using the desk?” as I was speaking with a colleague, in an unnecessarily rude tone. The only member of staff who stood out for their kindness and professionalism was the concierge, Victor. He was thoughtful, helpful, and gave us great local tips — a bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming experience. When we arrived at our room, an extra bed had been set up for our daughter — which came with a £60 per night surcharge. Shockingly, the sheets and pillow on that bed had visible bloodstains. Thankfully, the staff member who set up the bed was kind and quickly replaced the linens. On our final night, our room was disturbed by loud music well past 11:30 p.m. We could clearly hear songs like “Sweet Caroline” playing. When we called down, we were told — with an apology — that the music would continue for another 30 minutes. They did waive the extra bed fee for that night, which we appreciated. We love London and can’t wait to return — but we won’t be staying here again. For the price, the service and quality simply didn’t measure up.
