This hotel is the pinnacle of clean and centrally located! We could walk to Navy Pier (.75 mile), the water taxi to Chinatown (600ft!) great shopping, museum of illusions less than 1/2 mile away, restaurants all within walking distance (chick fil a across the street if you don’t wanna spend $$$ on big restaurants, convenient stores less than a block (Walgreens). The staff were very helpful and kind, the rooms were IMMACULATE and smelled fresh and clean upon entering! They have an incredible indoor pool that does movies by the pool every Fri/sat (wheelchair users this is not ADA compliant as a grandfathered in building! We did have a kind security guard go out of his way to take us where it might be easier to carry our son to the pool and leave his wheelchair up top). Also there IS an accessible entrance but it’s off to the side and mostly used for bellhops and valets. We almost missed it but so thankful we saw it! The entire hotel is impressive, grand and somehow retains to charm of a very old building with great new updates that are clean, convenient and make for an amazing stay. Highly recommended!

From the moment we pull to the front of the Hotel we were met by WILL (head doorman/bell hop/valet) and his incredible smile and personality. He is the face of your hotel as he is the first representative of the hotel you meet. He is an unbelievable asset to your hotel. His friendly nature and calm demeanor were helpful as it is difficult to pull over on such a busy corner in downtown Chicago. We were at the hotel for our son's wedding and many of our guests were from out of state and somewhat intimidated by Chicago. Will put them ease and assured their vehicles and luggage would be just fine. He remembered us every day were were there (4days). The hotel was lovely and the wedding was flawless- food was great as well. We will recommend the hotel and grand ballroom to everyone. It was magical- worth every penny

We had the most incredible wedding at the Intercontinental in the Grand Ballroom. The staff was attentive, kind, and made everything run smoothly from start to finish. The food was outstanding! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and created the perfect backdrop for our day. Shay Gordon was our day of planner and she absolutely crushed it! We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stunning, stress-free wedding experience.

Just OK, I wouldn't pay to stay here again. We arrived to check in around 11 am which is well before check in time and were told we'd get a call or text when our rooms were ready which is great. We walked around and got some food etc. then came back and were waiting in the lobby for about an hour as we still had not received a text or call and at 3:15 pm we went and inquired about our rooms again. We were informed they had been ready for several hours but for some reason we didn't get a call or text, somewhat minor but annoying. When we arrived to our rooms there was a box of old food in the mini fridge and long hair on the wall in the shower. The phone handset was broken and only worked on speakerphone. Again not a huge problem but well below expectations and makes you wonder if they aren't maintaining the place or if they even cleaned the room or just made the beds and left. The rooms were unremarkable, your standard bed in a box which is the norm for most hotels. The only other complaint I have is there was a nice long ledge/shelf attached to the wall below the TV and no way to use it to charge phones, computers, etc even behind the TV (it was all locked in a panel). The only outlet in the room was in a bad spot with no table nearby so I had to move a table across the room to place my computer and phones on which is not an oddity either but in 2025 you'd think they would have a more well thought layout. The hotel does have some interesting architecture and decor outside the rooms though and the drinks in the Michael Jordan steakhouse bar were very good. To be fair we were given 2 drink vouchers for the 3 of us (not sure why not 3) for the check in annoyance but then the bartender told us they didn't accept them. Overall an OK stay with way more small annoyances than most stays I've had.
