We had a really pleasant 4 night stay at the hotel at the end of August. The atmosphere is relaxed and the kids enjoyed the game area. The free coffee in reception in the morning is welcome but you do have to pay for breakfast items. That said there are lots of options for breakfast and dinner within easy walking distance. The location is great, and yes, there are some homeless people in the area, but that applies to all the downtown hotels and is visible in many large cities! The room was clean and bright but would suggest coffee making facilities in the rooms would be a good addition. Would stay here again.

The hotel is right next to Powell station, making it super easy to use transit. Staff is extremely kind and attentive. Rooms and common areas are very clean. Despite the rooms having laminate flooring, our stay was extremely quiet and we couldn’t hear any sounds from the hall or neighboring rooms. We had everything we needed and it was in a great location. It’s also within walking distance of plenty of food/drink options as well!

So, this 100% would be 5 stars if it weren't for 2 major factors (one outside of the hotels control and the other inside). First however the good points (and there are a few): The room was great The bed was comfy The bathroom nice The staff were very pleasant The gym was very nice for a hotel (a small but clean and well stocked gym) The communal areas were modern The communal coffee and pastries in the morning were a nice touch The area is central to SF Now 2 major draw backs: First (outside of their control) - I feel bad pointing this out, as I don't like focusing on things the hotel can't do anything about however it has to be said so people know. The location whilst central is not a nice area. There are a lot of drug addicts nearby and even being from a large city in Europe with a homeless population, it's not the same. It is noticeable and you don't always feel safe particularly at night. Second (totally inside their control) - the MANDATORY amenity fee. This is not a charge for services you can decide to use or not. It's just a way of adding a stealth charge to the customer. Included in the charge were amongst other things "towels" and"water". Why not just go the whole way and include the bed, the ceiling and the walls. Adding $40 a day did not sit right with me and it really let the whole experience down. I would frankly just have preferred to have been charged more upfront. We paid $450 for 3 nights and an extra $120 in the fees, that you cannot contest. Just charge $570. It's totally dishonest and leaves a really bad taste in the mouth of the consumer. It's a shame as you clearly work hard to create a great experience in other ways.

I hosted a party at the Phoenix hotel. They don’t have an air condition so I chose zetta. After my event, my wife went back to the room Keep in mind she was sleeping. She has five bags that’s open across the whole room . I came back to the room after 12 after I finished up my event and cleaning and the AC was not working. Nothing was working. It was completely dead. I called the hotel told him my situation they asked do I wanna move rooms? I said I’m not gonna pack up and wake my wife up. That’s very inconsiderate and rude of me to do to her if she’s already asleep so they brought me a fan the next day I asked for some type of refund because I slept very unwell. They said a manager will call me a manager has never called me yet nor did they try to offer me a discount and the price was more than what I booked it through bookings.com. It’s been about a week and I have gotten no call from these people. I’m baffled how rude they are and how inconsiderate they are and how they think it’s OK for what I went through shame on the management and shame on whoever hired them this is not right at all.
