The scent of the wood fire and the view of the Blue Mountains out the A-frame of the grand wooden lobby as we entered for our first time, we will never forget. As someone who loves the outdoors and the cottage, the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains was a dream hotel for us. At first, we had checked into a much lesser hotel up the road, one which did not offer half the amenities, but was at least 80% of the price (Leura Gardens), thus the Fairmont presented with extremely great value by offering a fantastic location, views, breakfast, indoor heated pool and hot tub, along with an outdoor pool to rotate in and out of with the heat, and that wonderful fireplace. We were tremendously happy with our stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was expansive and delicious. Beyond all my positive items, of which I could go on and on, the hotel is visibly aging and will need some serious maintenance and renovation soon. For example, it was windy/rainy and our windows were loud and let lots of cool air in, the window frames are rotting, the lightly coloured room carpet is visibly stained, and the pool area has lots of moisture related scum building up on the tiles and windows. The fireplace also became clogged and was not lit for our last day. Moreover, given limited post-9PM food options in Leura and Katoomba, a later food/room service of even simple things like pizza etc would be greatly appreciated. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment. Thank you for the great stay. We are so happy we spent our precious time in the Blue Mountains at this resort.

Overall we had a lovely overnight stay however the property really needs some attention just to improve it to make it a better hotel. The rooms are a good size, furnishes are a little dated but does suit the mountains vibe. They desperately need new carpet or flooring of some kind as the carpet was very stained and dirty. The pillows are not very comfortable, our bed was a little average. The bathroom tiles have some mould like stains and are dated. With new carpet and some more luxurious bedding along with some simple fixes to the bathrooms, the stay would be so much better. Staff were lovely and helpful. Fantastic location with play equipment, pools, arcade, slide, ice skating for kids. (Winter not so much) We had dinner at the bar restaurant and it was really quite nice, the food was lovely and delicious cocktails. The buffet breakfast was satisfying. The external part of the building does need some TLC here and there but it's a big building. Overall the vibe needs improvement. This place had huuuge potential. I wouldn't return based on those reasons.

Great for kids! So much to do! We loved exploring the gardens and riding our balance bikes! Kids loved the playgrounds! Can get a bit $$$ if you spend too much time in the games zone! Food is pricy too! But overall we loved it! Will be back again!

We visited during the school holidays and the resort was packed! Don’t come during school holidays if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. But for our family it was really fun. The service from staff was excellent, very responsive and kind. The view from our courtyard room was lovely and our bed was comfy. There was a good offering of kids holiday activities - some required additional payment and booking - and we mostly loved the ice skating and the indoor pool. Oh, and the fish tank in the foyer!
