Stayed here for 2 nights for my best friend's wedding with my partner and young son. Booked a super king family room with a sea view as that was the only one available for the dates I needed and was actually very nice. Very spacious and the view of the lighthouse and the Hoe was beautiful when the sun was shining! Requested a travel cot for my son which was made up for our arrival but proved a bit too small and uncomfortable for him so ended up in bed with us for both nights. On the morning of the wedding when we were getting ready, we tried to call room service to get breakfast brought up to the brides room as we were all having hair and makeup done but no-one answered, so three of us had to go up to the restaurant and grab lots of things to take back to the room. The food was very nice, was your classic buffet style breakfast with cooked things, cold things, toast machine and cereal with cows milk alternatives. The hostess was also very nice and gave us larger trays to fill up with food and drink as she knew we had quite a few people to feed and wanted to save us the room service tray charge which was very nice! I'll let my best friend review how her wedding went within the crowne plaza but I felt everything ran very smoothly and to plan throughout the day. Overall a nice stay, just very pricey for what it is. I've knocked a star off for location as even though the hotel is in central Plymouth, the underground car park is not for the faint of heart....it clearly was not built for larger, modern cars with bigger turning circles. Thank goodness my car has front sensors as I was relying on them to not crash into the thick concrete pillars and curbs that are throughout the car park. The spaces are tiny (also don't reverse on if you want to get your suit cases out the boot of your car) and be mindful of when you do open the boot - apparently the concrete pillars on the ceiling are very low and my boot door opened into it, causing a small dent. And for all this you pay £15 per 24 hours for the pleasure to park there. You have been warned - find somewhere else to park if you can!

This hotel is like a 1970s tower block in Eastern Europe. Decor is dated and room/ bathroom is dirty in places. Its been several years since I've seen artex on ceilings not to mention the polystyrene ceiling tiles! Windows don't open properly and air conditioning doesn't work well making the room too hot to sleep in. The 'swimming pool' is more like a paddling pool - advertised as 15m, but only suitable to swim in about 5m due to shallow depth. The pool/ leisure area was the reason we booked this place so felt very short changed about what we feel was false advertising. The leisure area not pleasant or relaxing with several guests having loud conversations on mobiles and one applying very smelly ointment in the steam room - yuk! Booking stated we had executive lounge access, but this was not offered at the location or details given at reception. Oppressive and unpleasant building and atmosphere with noise coming from external air conditioning units outside the room which is particularly annoying given how bad the in room air con is. Overall a sub standard experience , nowhere near 4 star in my opinion and we couldnt wait to leave!!! Would have addressed with reception but already had to raise the issue of being given a cheaper room than we paid for upon arrival and had lost the will to engage further with them. I'm usually a fan of IHG hotels but this is the worst one I've stayed in, certainly worse than most Premier inns I've stayed in. On a positive note location is great... that's about all. There must be better places in Plymouth - would advise you to look at other options before booking. We won't be back.
