Had a positive experience during our glamping stay. We camped Sunday to Monday, which seems to be less busy, cheaper, and quieter according to reviews. I think off-peak times are a much different experience. Once you arrive to Governor's Island, you can text the concierge and they will quickly arrive in a golf cart to bring your bags and give you a ride to the grounds. If you have heavy luggage, you’ll want to take advantage of this because it’s a decent walk. They have yard games, hammocks, a bar and restaurant on the grounds. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The food was good, but again…you can only do so much on an island, so don’t be blown away. Friendly staff all around. My only complaint was that I had a lot of mosquito bites at night, but my wife didn’t get bit at all! Overall it was a fun experience, and you can’t beat the views…something only unique to NYC

Spent a very romantic night in one of the tents. We had a great view of the Statue of Liberty. The food in the collective dining room was outstanding. Island oyster also on Island had delicious oysters. Rooms aren’t very clean as is the bathroom, the bed was very comfortable the towels and the sheets and the bath robes were top quality.

Spacious tents with daily service. High quality breakfasts and attentive staff to cater to your transportation needs at any time. Comfortable beds with picturesque views of the Statue of Liberty. Slept well. Friendly, helpful staff. Downsides are that some showers don't have hot water (even waiting 5+ for it to warm), also the ferry schedule constrains dinner timing in the city. Not many places to eat on the island. Some hammocks need tightening. Website photos give impressions of nicer tents and such than match reality.

First of all, the location is stunning—definitely one of the best views you can have of Manhattan. Because of that, we really enjoyed our stay here. When it comes to the accommodation itself, however, things go a bit downhill. The tents feel run-down: the rugs are dirty, and the extra blankets were full of grass and soil. The grounds, overall, lack TLC. The main issue is with the wet rooms. Most of the tent zippers don’t work, which means you literally have to use the toilet in full view of people walking by. The same goes for the showers—since the tent doors don’t close, anyone passing can see you naked. Only one or two bathroom tents can actually be zipped up (or almost zipped), which is simply not acceptable. All in all, this is more camping than glamping. We loved our stay for the fantastic view, but would we come again? Rather unlikely. Maybe for the smorres ;-)
