Situated along the western edge of the Baa Atoll, on a beautiful UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the secluded paradise of Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort is only accessible by speedboat or seaplane. Explore incredibly clear waters and coral reefs – maybe even spot a dolphin while paddling around in the resort’s lagoon, or travel to Hanifaru Bay to snorkel with manta rays.

The resort is located a 40-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé. The resort can be reached by seaplane transfer, available during daylight hours only at an additional cost (payable directly to the resort). Alternatively, the resort can be reached by a 30-minute speedboat transfer if guests fly into the domestic Dharavandhoo Airport (DRV), available day or night at an additional cost (payable directly to the resort). Update: 11th December 2024: As per the amendments to the Tourism Act issued by the Maldivian Government, applicable to all travellers arriving in the Maldives from 1 January 2025, the green tax payable by travellers upon arrival at hotels (including tourist resorts, tourist hotels, hotels, tourist guest houses, tourist vessels) has been increased from USD 6.00 to USD 12.00 per person per day.**

The resort is located a 40-minute seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport (MLE).
Seaplane journeys are available during daylight hours only.
Guests arriving at Velana International Airport on an international flight after 3.30 p.m. will need to book a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Airport (DRV) and arrange a 30-minute speedboat transfer.

We had a wonderful experience at Avani. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, always going the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Their thoughtful approach truly made a difference. The vila was spotless, being cleaned twice per day, which was important for us as we came with a crawling baby. As for the food — it was consistently excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and beautifully prepared dishes. Highly recommended!

My stay at Avani Maldives was absolutely amazing — the service is top-notch. A special mention goes to Min, the bartender, who made our evenings at the bar so enjoyable. His drinks were excellent, and his warm, welcoming attitude added a personal touch that we really appreciated. Also, a big thank you to Mia, who served us daily at Ocean Terrace. She was always kind, attentive, and made sure our breakfast experience was smooth and pleasant every morning.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary. It was our first time in the Maldives and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We had an over water pool villa. Stepping off our deck into the sea was like stepping into an aquarium! The fish and marine life was awesome! The island itself is not huge - takes about 30 mins to gently stroll around the island. Staff are very friendly (special shout out to Priti who served us for a number of meals). Beaches were pristine as was the water. Hardly saw any rubbish either on the beach or in the water. Judd, the GM, runs a good operation and the staff speak highly of him. My only ‘complaints’ are that the seaplane service (not operated by the hotel) can be erratic and the buggy service was sometimes late. Overall, an excellent experience for 5 nights (just the right length of time) and we will be back!

from setting foot onto the island, the staff exuded their warm hospitality, handing out drinks before transferring us onto buggies from the jetty to the reception. as there were two seaplanes arriving within proximity of one another, it was a relatively big group but the staff managed us alright, although it could have been slightly better with clear instructions. there is buggy service around the island. you could either hop on one when you see it, or dial one to your room, albeit with a short wait. nevertheless, the island is small enough to roam, and you will only need the buggy when the sun is scorching (i think). next, if you stay in an overwater villa, they have this Ambaa boat that comes on Mon, Wed, Fri at 4.30pm. I missed the boat but the resort was so kind to arrange two cocktails for us the following day. room wise it was good since the resort is relatively new. we stayed in an overwater pool villa, and had a bottle of champagne and some sweet treats upon checking in. there are life vests available in the room, so you can jump right into the sea if you have a pair of goggles, and the water is crystal clear. there is quite some aquatic life just beneath the overwater rooms, and it makes the stay so much better as we could enter the water as and when we wanted. you can also rent a snorkel kit from the dive centre for free. restaurant food was generally great. we tried different restaurants and they all taste great. I would recommend taking at least the half board with breakfast and dinner included. they serve delicious food at Ocean Terrace (a buffet restaurant), Skipjack Bar, and Charcoal (both of which have well curated 3-course meals). The waiters were friendly and are happy to chat you up, although they may miss out your small requests once in a while. Overall a comfortable stay, and highly recommend for you to opt for the overwater villa, which you will not regret.
