Dined in at the restaurant. Great food, quick service and very affordable. They take food orders till 9pm which is late compared to other restaurants. It was lively because of the bar (Saturday night). To note, the free shuttle doesn't stop outside any more, so you have to walk from the central village bus stop but it isn't far.

This was our first ever trip to the snow and we stayed at the Alpine Retreat. We stayed up on the forth floor in the mezzanine room. The room was very old in style but we were warm and comfortable. The games room was great other than the uni students partying in there every night till 2or 3 am keeping us awake but when my kids brought this to the attention of the staff it was delt with quickly. The included breakfast was lovely and the meals served where tasty. The staff were some of the nicest i have ever come across and always did there upmost to make sure we were having a good time . Special shout out to Fenton who was working in the ski hire who was so kind and helpful with my kids when we were unsure what we needed. Pool and spa were nice. Great location not far to walk to the centre of town. It was great being able to get dinner in the hotel. Would definitely return.

We've stayed in a few lodges/ accommodation on Mount Buller. For the price and facilities it's good value especially during the off peak season. We got a 5 night's package and it came with Continental breakfast and free one day ski gear hire. The gear hire rates are also quite reasonable for the other days. The proprietor is very friendly and helpful. There are two small warm pools. There's a ski gear drying room and a place to put your skis. We booked a room that sleeps 4 people. It was relatively spacious with plenty of shelf space, TV and small table with 2 chairs. Plenty of hangers and hanging space too. Heating worked very well. There are also more blankets available in the room if you need it. Room comes with ensuite bathroom/toilet. The games room is very big. There is a small "kitchenette" which has a large communal fridge with milk, tea, coffee, kettles, trays, cups, plates, some cutlery and a sink. Patrons are to wash their own dishes. There is a restaurant on site with reasonable rates and tasty food. It is about 10 minutes walk to the village center in my ski boots. And another few minutes from the bus stop and up the stairs to Bourke Street chair lift. My walking pace anyway. The Stirling bus stop number 3 is a about 3 minutes walk away in my ski boots to the hotel. Apparently there was a number 2 stop right in front of the hotel a while ago. This hotel is quite popular with school groups and when that happens the restaurant is unavailable to others unfortunately. We only managed to eat there 1 of the 5 nights only. The shuttle bus from the car park picks and drops off right in front of the hotel. This service was greatly appreciated when we arrived in the fog in the evening.

2 Stars – Only stay here if you’re planning to get drunk and don’t care about sleeping If you’re hoping for a quiet night, avoid this place. The bar stays open until 1am, and even though there’s a separator door between the rooms and the bar, we could still hear drunk people yelling right outside our door and others being kicked out. Blaring music played past midnight, and the queue for the bar ran right past our window—so there was zero chance of getting any rest. The room decor feels like it hasn’t been touched in over 15 years. On top of that, the TV was completely unusable—kept turning on and off every couple of minutes, so forget about relaxing and watching anything. Apart from that, food was great and service was good. Only stay here if your plan is to get blind drunk and stumble to bed. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
