I had a three night stay at the end of July, the rooms and service were fine but the severity of mould build up in the bathroom was quite confronting. I have stayed in all sorts of hotels all over the world and have never come across mould in showers or bathrooms to this extent. The toilet also was in need of a good scrub with toilet cleaner. See attached photos. I actually stood on a hand towel each time I showered during my stay because I was worried about contracting something from standing on the shower floor. I thought the bottom half of the shower door was frosted glass, but it was actually just build up of grime. I would hate to think when the last time the shower was scrubbed with bleach or any cleaning product aside from a spray and wipe. I didn’t attempt to switch rooms because I imagined that if one rooms bathroom was of this state then all of them would be as well. It’s a shame because it’s a great building, really convenient location and service was fine too.

Our room looked clean on the surface, but then when you looked again, you could see the rim of the hand basin was grubby, as was the rim of the toilet bowl. There was also a grotty mess on the join of the toilet cistern. The cleanliness was somewhat second rate.

Extremely Disappointing Stay and Lack of Support We had booked two connecting rooms for our family of 4. Upon check-in, we immediately noticed that one of the rooms — located at a corner block — had a strong, unpleasant odor. We reported the issue to the staff member on duty, but unfortunately, no real help or solution was offered. We were simply told that a note would be left for the manager to contact us on Monday — by which time, of course, our stay would already be over. We understand from the front desk that the hotel was fully booked for the weekend and a room swap was not possible. However, what we find unacceptable is: 1. The room was released as “ready” despite a very noticeable odor. At a rate of $350 per night, this is simply not up to standard. 2. The handling of our complaint lacked any sense of empathy or customer focus. While we acknowledge that the staff member on duty may have had limited authority, he showed no initiative to improve the situation or provide even the smallest form of support or goodwill gesture. His repeated comments that we could “contact management on Monday” left us feeling dismissed, as though our discomfort wasn’t the hotel’s concern during our actual stay. In the end, we were placed in a situation where we either had to endure the smell for two nights or forfeit our payment and move to another hotel to stay together. Either option was an unreasonable and frustrating compromise for us as guests. We’re not just disappointed by the issue itself, but even more so by the total lack of accountability, action, and customer care demonstrated in response. It’s disheartening to be treated as if our only option was to “put up with it” or take it up with someone not present during our stay.
